Geothermal energy, potential that has not developed Seriously

United States Vice President Al Gore during his visit to Indonesia some time ago said that Indonesia is very potential and opportunity to become global giants in the field of geothermal energy. As it is known that geothermal heat is energy contained in hot water, steam hydrothermal, and rocks that are in the bowels of the earth. Countries that have this potential can be seen from the character who is surrounded by volcanoes. Al Gore said that geothermal energy is the solution to save money and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Climate change has become a real threat to the world with increasing carbon dioxide emissions cause the greenhouse effect, and Indonesia is the largest contributor to CO2 emissions second only to Brazil with a total of 1.46 billion tons according to data from World Source Institute in Washington DC in 2010. Interestingly most of the carbon emissions generated from the forestry sector. To reduce carbon emissions many countries around the world began to reduce use of fossil fuels and replacing them with environmentally friendly energy. Geological Survey recorded the geothermal energy in Indonesia is one of the largest in the world that is equivalent to 28,000 MW in 2009, the number was equivalent to 30% of the world's geothermal potential. Unfortunately, with the potential for the bari 1189 MW are successfully used for electricity generation. Compare with the U.S. that has produced electrical energy is more than 4000 MW, or the Philippines produces more than 2000 MW.
Potential geothermal resources in Indonesia are spread in eastern Indonesia such as NTB <NTT, Maluku, North Maluku, Sulawesi, which has electrical energy depends on Diesel Power Plant (PLTD) in which capacity <5 MW, but if the heat can be substituted with earth will be able to save approximately 450,000 liters per year or equivalent to Rp. 2.9 Trillion per year. The government indeed has pioneered the development of geothermal energy projects through PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), but its management is still in small scale and not directly. In addition the government will also conduct a number of measures to support the development of geothermal energy in Indonesia, including the signing between PLN and PGE projects in cooperation geothermal, open investment of geothermal projects, and held talks with World Bank financing of projects related to these environmentally friendly energy . To speed up the process of administration of geothermal energy development projects, Vice President Boediono also asked the head of the existing areas of work in the region PGE to simplify licensing and other issues related to land use, because geothermal energy is environmentally friendly that the user needs to be intensified
